OK, this is the opening game of the Pre-Season.

Jason Campbell, who has been looking more comfortable so far this pre-season will be at quarterback.

We have a new star in WR Danarius Moore, who is reportedly catching everything thrown his way.

DHB is supposed to have a breakout season.

Are you ready for some Football?

Does anybody know how we can see this game in the LA area.?

I think that the only way we will be able to see the game is on a live stream. I don't think it will be on TV Confused

I just checked my tv guide and it shows that the Raider game will be replayed at 12 am on KTLA.

I couldn't see the game where I live. Tough loss. I thought we had when we went up 18-17. But our third string defense couldn't hold. Jason Campbell had a good first series, hit 6 of 9 for 54 yards. Denarios Moore caught 3 for 37. Chaz hurt again????

I'm pretty excited about Moore, but Chaz? Haha, I kinda gave up on the guy last season when he was only supposed to be out a couple of weeks and it turned into something like 9 weeks. So much potential too. Mr. Glass!

Also that new kickoff rule where the ball is moved up 5 yards is a joke! 1st kick off of the game, Janikowski kicked the ball through the field goal. The Raiders will never see another team return the ball now.

vs 49ers

Opening drive for 49ers, Raiders hold, fake field goal by 49ers, dropped snap, Raiders recover. Whew!!!

First possession Raiders, they go nowhere, have to punt. So Far a stand off.

Nice interception, Matt Shaunnessey

Raiders is good field position.

Denarious Moore for long reception. They say he is going to be our future star WR. A fourth round pick.

Halftime highlights

2 catches each for Denarious Moore and DHB. Campbell played good until he got knocked out. Trent Edwards played good until he threw the interception, trying to force things with the clock winding down. Edwards seems to have better field awareness than Campbell and he floats out of the pocket awaye from pressure giving himself time to react to things. Campbell stays in the pocket and is under pressure more often.

Raiders lose 17-3. The 49ers just looked better prepared than the Raiders. The Raiders looked like they were a week or two behind. We need to get back McFadden, Ford, and Chaz.

UPDATE: The team is indicating that Campbell’s injury is not serious but he is going to take a concussion test.

Trying to find a silver lining in the 49er game, in retrospect our starters played pretty well. Jason Campbell hit on 6 of 8 passes while both DHB and Denarious Moore caught two passes each for substantial yardage. Campbell has now connected on 11 of 16 passes (69%) for 140 yards in the first two games and no interceptions. There were a couple of nice punt returns and our kicking game is true to form. Matt Shaughnessey had a nice interception as well.

With so many 2nd, 3rd and 4th string players on the field in the second half it is hard to put very much importance on what happened other that their bench warmers were more prepared than our bench warmers.

Well hopefully Campbell is going to be okay. Obviously the offense struggled without McFadden but the defense held its own. Let's see if the guys can bounce back vs the Saints next Sunday!

Campbell had decent numbers, but IMO he still has that deer in the headlights look.

I was impressed with DHB. You could tell he wasn't fighting the ball upon its arrival.

Run defense was atrocious. We must get better against the run. It has been a serious weakness for far too long.

Let's hope Mike Mitchell is ready by the opener. He is out with an undisclosed injury. IMO, Tyvon Branch just isn't physical enough to play the SS position. He just has poor technique when attempting to tackle, if "tackle" is the correct word. He grabs at shoulder pads and jersey sleeves. What ever happened to identifying the target and driving through it, or wrapping up? You can NOT expect to bring down NFL RB's, WR's, or TE's with that type of girly approach.

Branch was also the victim of several blown coverages last season, and combined with his inability to tackle, I say play MM34 at SS. Mitchell will see his share of snaps in the "big nickle" package, but he deserves more snaps.

Mitchell has been deemed a weak cover guy, but after holding down Vernon Davis and Antonio Gates last season, I think he can cover just fine.

PLAY MM34

Hey Nation, you seem to have a good grasp of football. Good Analysis. I said up in my last comment that Trent Edwards seemed to have more confidence and a better feel for the pressure. He would float out of the pocket a lot away from pressure giving himself more time. He seems to see the field better. Campbell sits in the pocket waiting to get creamed. Having said that his stats are pretty good so far through two games......uh......er......except for the part about putting the ball in the end zone.

Let's see how our run D holds up.

It has been a weakness for years, and we got gashed badly by the 9ers last week.

We must fix this poor run defense, if we don't it'll be another long season.

With safties unwilling to tackle, unless tackling these days is grabbing at jersey sleeves, and LB's who overpursue, and linemen who constantly jump out of their gap responsibilities, who knows.

We have a poor LB corps. Kam Wimbley is a DE, period. Quentin Groves is garbage. That leaves us one decent LB in RoMac.

Travis Goethel is expected to play many snaps, but watching him man the middle last week, he reminds me way too much of Kirk Morrison. Takes poor angles, and overpursues way tooooo much.

We need Mike Mitchell to get healthy. Now there is a safety who is willing to put a hat on a hat. This grabass game that Huff and Branch play, quite frankly makes me sick.

See target and drive through it. NFL players are much too strong to be tackled by simply grabbing at them.....

Raiders are gonna miss Namdi big time. Each week their pass defense looks worst. They have to figure this out.

I was traveling, just got home. I am recording the game so I am about 45 minutes behind you. We have a lot of new members but they might not be clued into game day threads the way they are on other TopBuzz sites. Maybe next week I will send out emails to invite them all to join. Or..............they could all be at bars drinking down some suds and don't have their laptops with them. What's the score.

Your probably right. Saints 14 Raiders 7. Drew is eating them up. Starting to get worried about the Raiders "D". 3 game sin a row now. Namdi is gonna be missed. Our corners have to step it up.

Hey that new corner we just signed is a former All Pro cornerback, pleyed in a couple of Pro Bowls. So, he should help. I am just starting the game from the beginning, but I am already worried about the defense. They haven't stopped anybody yet.

On that first series that rookie corner Vandyke got killed. Time to bring in the All Pro.

Ok, what I saw in the 1st half was Al Saunders putting in a West Coast Offense. Joe Montana became a legend running that offense. We threw downfield just enought to set up all of the quick strike, short yardage, passes. And to keep them off balance, they threw to running backs curling out of the backfield.

I actually like that offense.

The offensive line doesn't really have to hold for very long because the plays develop so quickly. And we gain yardage on just about every short pass.

And just when you get the defense thinking short....Boom....you go long. Even though we didn't go long very well in the first half.

What do ya think?

TAIWAN JONES>>>>TAIWAN JONES!!!!!

Ram for 81 yards and a touchdown. Caught 2 passes for 18 as well.

And where did that WR Hagan come from anyays. He's a player.

Caught 6 passes for 121 yards and a 35 yard touchdown catch.

Jason Campbell threw for 150 hitting on 12 of 17 including the 35 yards strike to Hagan.

We were still missing several starting players including RB McFadden, WR Ford, DL Seymour, CB Johnson, WR Chaz.

Most of the Saints winning points came in the second half when we had our 3rd sting defensive backs on the field who left their receivers wide open.

Other than that I actually think this was a step forward from last weeks game against the 49ers.

Jones looks truly legit. Campbell WAY more comfortable. Hagan was going after balls which I haven't seen a Raider receiver do in quite awhile.

Question: Why aren't the DB's seeing the ball? Nobody was turning back and finding the ball, just running in stride with the receivers. A lot of times DVD was in position and never turned. Weird. But, might as well get picked on while it's preseason, no better time to learn. DVD needs to grow up FAST.

And did it seem like the NO QB's had a lot of time to throw? Not much pressure this game.

Overall, positive. NO has one of the best offenses in the league and they had to earn it. Offense looked tough.

Let's see next week what we do with a few more starters back.

Terrelle Pryor should play Friday night against the Seahawks. Game time is 7:30PM and will be carried on the NFLTV network on Dish and KTLA channel 5 in the SoCal area. Check your local listings for the Bay Area but I think it is being carried on channel 2. We will get see how much progress Terrelle has made with just a few practices. Hope he does well.

As for me, I don't get the KTLA feed out of LA, and my cable doesn't provide NFLTV network, so I will be watching the game down at the Laguna Grill Sports Bar in San Luis Obispo, Ca.

Pryor hasn't played yet but it's good to see Campbell playing well so far. The defense also looks improved as well.

Campbell seems too comfortable, he needs to up the intensity when the regular season starts.

I think the team to going to perform much better than we expect. McFadden is back, most of our starting lineup is in place. And our 3rd string won't mess up a close game

Yeah I agree. McFadden's return is huge and I think if the defense can hold NO to 3 TDs or less we have a great chance of winning. Go Raiders!

Well, just when I think Al Davis may be coming back to reality, he morphs back into the Crypt Keeper, and orders some brain dead type actions.

What I am talking about here, is our most productive WR in the preseason, Derek Hagan, being a healthy inactive for tonights game. Heyward-Bey had better step it up. There is no reason, none whatsoever, that Hagan should be inactive. Nick Miller, who has NOT done a thing in two seasons, and this preseason to even justify a roster spot is active, but Hagan is inactive. Just totally brain dead decision making.

I am beginning to think what everyone says is true, this team will be garbage until we have a shovel party(funeral) for Al Davis. I am disgusted and the game hasn't even begun.

YOu have to think that our coach would not have benched our most productive WR in preseason. Sure sounds like a Davis mvoe. Why? But Hagan is not as fast as his draft picks. But all he does is get open and catch the ball.

Don

I agree with you. this is a Davis move. He has some sort of affinity for Nick Miller. In the 2009-2010 preseason, Miller broke his shin, and Davis paid him all season, wasting a roster spot. He played last season, and didn't do anything productive. I know, I DO NOT miss a game. This preseason, Miller has done the same as last season, which is muff punts, drop passes, and occassionally catch a 4 yard pass. Guy is garbage, and doesn't deserve to play over Hagan. That just doesn't make any sense.

Are we actually trying to win?????? The better player has to play, and Hagan, from what I have seen, is BY FAR the better player.

Well, it's almost game time and I was just thinking, in addition to having Hagan available, wouldn't like to have Mike Mitchell, Louis Murphy, Kevin Boss. To bad, they're hurt. We need everybody. Let's see what we have got. I think the offense will improve over preseason, and I hope that the defense can hold them under 20. My prediction 27 - 17 Raiders. What's yours?
