Here's my deal.
I grew up a die-hard raider fan back in the early 90s. We had season tickets for a while up until they packed their bags and left. I remember numerous occasions where fights randomly broke out EVERY game at the coliseum. barf falling on the seat next to me. getting a beer shower every other game. heck, one day my pops wore a blue sweater with orange inlay (bronco colors) and was verbally assaulted with every insult possible in front of his son. football aside, raider fans tend to be classless for the sake of trying to live up to being classless (if that makes sense). now from a man's perspective, its hella corny to see grown men try to be "intimidating fans" as if its one giant gang of men trying to escape reality. i cant stand this.
when the raiders left LA, i was immediately bitter. i hated them with a passion because they walked out on me like a wife that leaves a husband for more money. al davis was even more of a creep (i remember meeting this cadaver at the HQ in el segundo. i asked him for an autograph and he told me to go wait outside in the hot sun and to not cross the painted line.).
i pushed that hate aside after a year or 2, but never really developed the same kind of die hard appreciation i had during their LA days. (i mean, i used to love the raiders with a passion). now, its been something like 17 years without LA football and find myself trying to root for silver and black, but its just so difficult.
im hoping LA gets an expansion team (which it probably wont), but if the chargers come to LA, id have no problem whatsoever rooting for them and buying season tickets. i just cant rekindle a passion for a team that gave me the boot and is now run like a state prison.
no offense to anyone.
