Sources: Aaron Curry dealt to Raiders
The Seattle Seahawks traded linebacker Aaron Curry to the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday for draft picks in 2012 and another in 2013, a source familiar with deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Seattle will receive a seventh-round pick in 2012 and a mid-round conditional pick (fourth or fifth round) in 2013 based on Curry's playing time with Oakland, a source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.
Curry was not at practice Wednesday and his locker was cleaned out. The Seahawks had no comment on his status, but some teammates indicated that Curry was on his way out of Seattle.
Curry had fallen out of favor in Seattle, with rookie K.J. Wright taking over the starting strongside linebacker role.
Teammates including Wright and Leroy Hill indicated that Curry had come in and said his goodbyes. Curry was the fourth overall pick in the 2009 draft out of Wake Forest, but had struggled to find a productive role in Seattle.
"I talked to him and he came and said how much he had learned from us and how much he is going to miss us and everything," Hill said. "I think now he won't have all those high expectations that he had here, so he can just relax and play ball. I wish him luck and I think everything will work out for him."
