Maybe not. But the rumors are out there again. Carson Palmer and TO were team mates with the Bengals. So they have some history. But some rumors say that they were not close, and maybe even adversaries. Not sure which way that story goes. But Murphy is still hurt. And if we had an injury to another of our key WR's, then our stretch drive to the playoffs could be hampered. If TO will sign for reasonable dollars, which it is resported he will, then they might take a flyer on him under the conditions of his admitting that he is not necessarily a starter. He will have to earn that.

Repped High Quality Post

Don

You sure it isn't you who wants TO? LOL. You have made the statement several times, and I have found nothing on any of the various Raiders sites I read, newspapers or blogs. I also have read nothing from either of the two media guys, Jerry McDonald and Steve Corkran, that are all over bay area news, especially Raiders news. Im not trying to be an a$$hole, just wondering where you're hearing this.

Also, Louis Murphy played a little(5-7 snaps) on Sunday. He had a chance on a ball over the middle, and never put his arms up, and ducked out of the way of an oncoming defender. Point blank, Murphy worse than Gator armed it. After that play, he wasn't seen again. Murphy broke his clavical last season, and was gator arming balls last season once he returned. He seems guinely afraid to go over the middle. I like Murphy, but that play on Sunday showed me that he lacks heart. Add onto that the whole arrest for Viagra, yes VIAGRA possession this offseason, I'm starting to think the guy who was our most productive WR the last two seasons, is at very least a 4th or 5th option at WR now.

My current WR rankings would be:

1) DHB. Wow! Did I just say that??? Guess I did.

2) Jacoby Ford. Although I like him in the slot and that is his role. Doesn't start. Starters are Moore and DHB.

3) Denarius Moore. Just another great pick by "Crazy" old man Al.

4) Chaz Schillens. This guy has all the talent in the world, slightly above average speed, runs great routes, and has THE BEST hands in our WR corps. Injury prone. I have watched EVERY, yes, EVERRRRYYYY Raiders game since I got my Directv in 1995, DHB drops em (not many this year though) Ford juggles many, and Moore isn't even targeted too often since DHB and Ford have returned. IMO, Chaz has awesome hands, and if he can get/stay fully healthy, dude can ball.

5 and 6 you can go either way with Hagan or Murphy.

Point being, we have 6 solid WR's, players salaries after week one (if already on a roster, which all 6 of ours are/were) are guaranteed for the season. Also, we had to restructure Palmer's deal. We have cap room, but not much. There is no chance IMHO, that TO gets anywhere near Oakland. Now a return to the 49ers who need WR's, that I would believe to make more sense.

Please don't think I was being a pr!ck. Not at all buddy.

Watch as Chaz offers up the ball to the Steelers fan. Good stuff.

Look how good he is, with Jawalrus Russell, Charlie Frye, and Bruce Gradkowski throwing him the ball.

Injuries have killed his career before it could take off. He will make noise in this league, IF he can stay healthy. May not be with us, but he has all the makings of a pro-bowl caliber WR.

Man, another bizarre thing I'm going to say is, Russell actually looks good, as any QB would with time to throw.

By all accounts, Russell is a lazy oaf, who likes "sizzurp", but we did him a diservice by starting two rookies at WR in DHB and Murphy.

He actually looked awesome on many of those throws. Well, what's done is done, and I'm sure there is a reason in which no team has called upon his services, and his life coach, former NBA star John Lucas quit on him.

TO,,,,just say no. Traditionally we are the team that takes in the unwanted but you have to know the difference between unwanted and insane. TO is just insane enough to wreck chemistry. Just say no.

Not so sure about TO to Oakland, not a big fan of it either. We have a nice, young receiving corps as it is with DHB, Moore, Murphy, Schilens (when healthy), Hagan and Ford. We don't need to bring 38 year old legs into the equation.

TO is and will always be a diva and a team cancer, and judging from last season, I can definitely see that Palmer and Owens have terrible chemistry. I mentioned in one of my last posts that a lot of Palmer's interceptions last season came from miscommunication with his WRs (mainly Ocho and Owens). They would misread coverages, avoid contact, stop running routes right in the middle of play, and sometimes even freelance and go off on their own without Palmer knowing what they were doing. Palmer actually played better without the 2 WRs on the field.

And I agree with Raider Nation for the most part on the WR ranking. DHB is surprisingly emerging into a legit #1 option in the league and Moore isn't too far behind. I'd take Hagan over Murphy just because he can catch and hold onto the ball in traffic. I also doubt Murphy's testicular fortitude after seeing how scared he was to get hit rather than just focus on the ball last week. His eyes looked SCARED in the replay too. I hope the Raiders don't re-sign him next year, he's always had trouble holding onto the ball and bringing it in.

I agree 100% with you guys- TO is just too controversial and brings unwanted attention to the team, moving the focus from the team itself. We definitely have a pretty good corp of receivers already.

OK, my original post started with "Maybe Not". I referred to rumors which often times is sportswriters just speculating, and mentioned how Palmer and TO were rumored to have an adversarial relationship. That's the case for TO not coming. Then I gave a couple of scenarios where maybe they would. But I am not promoting TO. If we get an injury, to me that just means more catches for our non starting WR's like Denarious Moore and Hagan. I noticed today we just didn't use Boss very much at TE and he is a great receiver. And we can throw to RunDMC and orthers our of the backfield. So we have lots of great options for Carson Palmer to throw to. TO just might stand for "Time Out."

Sometime when I start a thread, it is to start a conversation, and we are having one on TO. He brings out strong emotions. It looks like if we did a poll on TO, it might be a little lopsided. Just say NO!
