Raiders Say McFadden Has Mid-Foot Sprain

Quote:
At his Monday press conference, Raiders coach Hue Jackson described Darren McFadden's foot injury as a mid-foot sprain.

Jackson said the "hope" is that McFadden will recover during the team's Week 8 bye. The Raiders have not provided details on the grade of McFadden's sprain, but are taking necessary precautions by keeping his weight off the foot with crutches. The Raiders play the Broncos in Week 9 and Chargers in Week 10.

Janikowski Due Back After Raiders Bye

Quote:
Coach Hue Jackson expects Sebastian Janikowski (hamstring) to return for Week 9, after the Raiders' Week 8 bye.

Janikowski should only end up missing one game. Kicking in SeaBass' place against the Chiefs, Dave Rayner did not have a single field goal opportunity. Look for the Raiders to release Rayner this week, clearing a roster spot.

Kevin Boss Suffers Another Concussion

Quote:
Boss caught an 11-yard pass from Carson Palmer, went to turn upfield, and got absolutely licked. It's a familiar sight for Boss, who previously suffered three concussions during his NFL career. He went to the locker room for further testing.

McFadden held out of Monday's practice

Quote:
Darren McFadden (foot) was held out of Raiders practice Monday.

McFadden's status for Week 9 against Denver remains in question. Beat writer Steve Corkran suggests Wednesday "might be a realistic target date" for McFadden to return to practice. Should McFadden sit out this week's game, Michael Bush would dominate the backfield with Taiwan Jones in a pace-change role.
