So MOJO and myself had a short discussion and after what he posted I was under the impressions we were in first. During the game the announcers eluded to us being in first if we win even with like records as we won the tie breakers over Teblow's team.

Now watching the RedZone channel they say all Denver has to do to win the division is win next week and we are out. I thought if we both won, they were out.

They also say we can lose and still be a wildcard if,,,,,oh crap that is too confusing.

Help us Obi Wan,,you're our only hope.

JUST WIN BABY

Hahaha wow that's a lot to stomach.

I heard earlier, during the Lions/Chargers halftime show that the Raiders and Broncos are tied at 1st place. All this time I thought that the Raiders held the tie breaker but ESPN.com says otherwise:

Quote:
Denver Broncos (8-7)

AFC West Champ (Wins tie break over Oakland based on best win percentage in common games.

So that would mean that with a Bengals loss and Raiders win we are in as a Wild Card no matter whether the Broncos win or lose? The Raiders hold the tie breaker over the Titans and Jets for a Wild Card spot. But it says nothing about what happens if the Bengals and Raiders both end up at (9-7).

http://espn.go.com/nfl/standings?type=p ... rder=false

So there we have it!

So far this is what the AFC picture looks like:

  1. Patriots (11-3)

  2. Ravens (11-4)

  3. Texans (10-5)

  4. Broncos (8-7)

  5. Steelers (11-4)

  6. Bengals (9-6)

  1. Raiders (8-7)

  2. Titans (8-7)

  3. Jets (8-7)

  4. Chargers (7-8]

The simplest way for the Raiders to get into the playoffs of course is for them to pound the Chargers and hope the Chiefs can play spoiler to the Broncos causing them to go (8-8] while we go (9-7) and take the division.

So we lose,,we're done no matter what. We win and Denver or Cinn lose and we're in. The Bolts will be trying to knock our blocks off to end us,,the Chiefs will be trying to knock teblow's block off to end them. Should be for some fun, nerve wracking, cussing and celebrating games. Hope we are the celebrating.

^^Exactly. And thanks for the breakdown of the possibilities of how the Raiders can make the playoffs. I wonder if we play first or does the Bronco game happen first. I hope we go first, get the big W, which puts all the pressure on Denver. It's going to be nervous time....

I haven't heard one analyst talk about the tie breaker if we end up with the same record as Denver. I also haven't read a definite answer either. Doesn't anybody know?

Last night on ESPN the announcers said Denver wins they are in no matter what. So it would appear they have the tie breakers not us. Let's hope TeBlow blows it one more time and out team comes out and plays like they can play if they try (and don't get a holding call every other dang play).

Got it. We lose if we tie the Broncos because of records against similar opponents mainly , beleive it or not,,losing to the Dolphins will cost us as Teblow beat them.

Don't got it afterall. We win, Den loses, we are in. We win, CIN loses and a couple of others have to blow it too,,like the Jets and one other,,for us to get the WC. Best chance is to beat the living daylights out of SD and hope Kyle Orton plays his rear off to beat Teblow and teach Den a lesson (oh yeah, and play for a contract wth KC).

^^ We hold the tiebreaker over the Jets and Titans according to espn.com. So we just need the Bengals to lose and a Raider win for a Wild Card berth.

Quote:
Wins tie break over Tennessee and NY Jets based on strength of victory.

Of course the Raiders win the AFCW with a Raider win and Broncos loss.
