In the first two games it was obvious to me that Matt Leinart was playing better than Carson Palmer. Then, in game 3, Matt had to sit out which gave Terrelle Pryor an opportunity to showcase his stuff for an entire half. He finished with at QB rating of only 143. He ran for 60. Then scrambled for 17 and a TD. Then threw two long TD passes to Criner. One was for 76 yards. In fact, TP is the only QB to throw a TD, or have any TD's period.

There is now more grumblings in Raider Nation about who should actually start. Palmer didn't really have all that good of a season last year. He completed 60% of his passes for a QB rating of 80. But he had 17 sacks, 16 interceptions, to go along with only 13 TD's.

Here are the preseason stats:

Palmer- 45 Rating- 59%- 4 Ints- 0 TD's- 12 yds Rushing

Leinart- 86 Rating- 67%- 0 Ints- 0 TD's- 0 yds Rushing

T Pryor- 96 Rating- 57%- 1 Ints 3 TD's- 112 yds Rushing

Leinart has at least played some with 1st team players. Pryor has played mosty with 2nd and 3rd team players. Meanwhile, Palmer hasn't done that much playing only with 1st team players.

I think it would be a shame to sit a QB who seems to have more potential that Leinart and Palmer put together. These two guys are never going to get any better than they already are. But the future is now. I say play Terrelle. There might be some growing pains the first couple of games. But a QB who can run and scramble drives defenses crazy. And we will find out sooner rather than later if he is the real deal. If not, he can sit on the bench and watch Palmer have another average year. Going 8 and 8 again doesn't say much. But turning loose a player who possibly could take us to the next level is just to good to pass up.

In the last preseason game we will see a lot of Leinart and Pryor and very little Carson Palmer because he is the projected starter. Should they start Pryor in this game since Matt is still injured. What do you think?

Yeah it's a little disturbing that Carson hasn't thrown any TD's yet. True that Pryor hasn't played with the first team yet, but he's also played vs the non-first team competition. Leinart looked solid in game 1, but yeah unless Carson just really struggle I'm pretty sure he will be the starting QB. We did give up a lot of assets for him in that trade. But of course a lot can still happen between now and the beginning of the season.

Dave, wouldn't it be interesting if Palmer got hurt and the coaches were forced to make a decision on who to start in his place. TP might have the most upside and potential, but Matt played well in the first two games and has experience with the offense having played the Knapp offense in Houston. The smart money would be Leinart. Somehow, someday, someway, they are going to have to find out if TP is the real deal. The replay of TP running down the field is quite a site. He looked more like Darren McFadden than a QB.

I have to tell you, I have never seen a QB run like that, it looked like everybody else was in slow motion.

^^Totally Brave. That's why I hope that even if Palmer doesn't get hurt, the Raiders can incorporate Pryor into the offense here and there. Imagine him in there on 3rd and short, or even together with Palmer on third down in the backfield. That will really freak out the defense.

In the finale palmer and leinart didnt do squat. At least pryoy connected on 6 of 9 for 55 and ran twice for 9 yards

We kept our main weapon McFadden under wraps, so naturally our offense struggled. Hopefully everyone is 100% healthy and ready to go in the season opener vs the Chargers.

Sorry I am late but you go with your starter and don't let pre-season sway you. Pre-season means squat except for practice and for new guys trying to make a team. I can remember many year in past decades when the Raiders looked like heck in preseason, had lost most if not all of the games, then had a great real season. This is one case where we have to go with the coaches.

To me PRyor was the most impressive,,because he was trying harder then the rest. Let's not fire Carson until the 2nd week,,okay?

^^Ron- yeah I'm just not sure not having a single TD in the pre-season is not going to affect Carson's psyche and confidence in a negative way. Hopefully he's looked better in the practices. I'll be happy if he keeps the TDs and INTs even for now.

I seriously doubt anything would affect CP's confidence at this point in his life. I ever heard him say on the radio he tried a lot of things he would never have tried int he real season and threw to guys he wouldn't look at until maybe the 3rd choice,,,just to get in the practice and throw to guys that may or may not make the cut.
